Prakash Amte and Mandakini Amte, they are Doctors. Instead of taking up a job in some multi speciality hospital they went to the interiors to serve the poor. They slept in doorless hut with no electricity. And to gain the trust of the tribals, they learned their language. That was 34 years before. And since then, they built a hospital and a school for the poor. They now receive the coveted Ramon Magsaysay award.
Today evening I had felt very glad that my design was appreciated at office. But when I read their citation at the Ramon Magsaysay award foundation website I felt myself to be so tiny and worthless. If the world were full of people like me, it would've lost its charm long ago.
You can read the complete citation here Prakash and Mandakini Amte.
